There has been a lot of drama following the British royal family over the years. While the public often tends to favor Queen Elizabeth, the same cannot be said of most of her family.
Criticisms continue to pour in over how the royal family has treated Princess Diana, there are very serious allegations against Prince Andrew, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to leave Buckingham Palace behind.
The departure of Harry and Meghan caused a wave of shock to the royal family. Still, it looks like there may be more setbacks in the future because of the young couple. So much so that some royal officials are “scared”, according to best life.
excluding official monarchical duties
On the surface, Harry and Meghan seemed like an unlikely couple. In the previous generation, a prince never married a common man. Marrying a divorced American would be grounds for abdicating the throne. The same was the case with Harry’s great-grandfather Edward VIII.
Times have changed since then. Harry and Meghan were able to marry with little objection from royal or religious institutions. At least the public felt that way. Even though the newlyweds belonged to the royal family, their life was far from a fairy tale.
Both were surrounded by the media and British tabloids. A touching subject for Prince Harry, as he sees the tabloids as partially responsible for his mother’s death. The couple often sued newspapers for publishing false information. As for Meghan, she has never really felt welcomed by her royal in-laws.
Accusations of racism surfaced, including a conversation that involved the color of the skin of future children. The two had had enough and decided to resign from their royal duties and move to North America. The resignation was a scandal in the royal family, which continued to intimidate Queen Elizabeth.
The future for the prince and duchess
While Harry and Meghan have been doing charity work for the past few months, the road will be rocky again. Both have inked multi-million dollar deals with Netflix, Spotify and book publishers. These media revelations are expected to be a “tell-all” one about his grievances with the royal family.
The Queen has repeatedly said that Harry and Meghan will be welcomed into the Royal Family at any time. Rather than considering the offer, it seems they are comfortable increasing the reported split. This has made Buckingham Palace “scared”.
The Queen has been known to keep quiet about family drama, but a royal insider provided some insight, as reported by Best Life. “Having it all again in a book or being brought up in new interviews will reopen wounds that are barely starting to heal.” It appears that Harry and Meghan are comfortable making their separation from the royal family permanent.
life after royalty
The two planned to balance their lives between North America and the United Kingdom. But the coronavirus (COVID-19) left the two stranded in North America. They mainly live in Canada and California.
Last year was quite a quiet one for the couple, as they welcomed the birth of their second child in June. However, their parental leave is over and both are now back at work. Meghan focuses most of her working hours on the couple’s charity called the Archwell Foundation.
Notably, it has launched a new initiative called “40×40”. In this event, the Duchess recorded conversations with 40 successful women for 40 minutes each. The purpose of these conversations is to help women who are returning to the workforce. Interviewees include Melissa McCarthy, Adele and Princess Eugenie.
The prince has also been doing charitable work. He has participated in fundraising events for orphans affected by HIV/AIDS. Such work is very similar to what his late mother used to do.
