Trisha Yearwood has double reason to celebrate. She premiered the 12th season of her Food Network series Trisha’s Southern Kitchen and completed her fourth cookbook, Trisha’s Kitchen: Easy Comfort Meals for Friends and Family. As a child, Trisha was a fan of the comfort classic Chicken Pot Pie, another version called Chicken Pie, and one she called Chickless Pot Pie. She’s put a twist on a favorite comfort food and turned it upside down into a delicious burger.
Trisha Yearwood’s Chicken Pot Pie Burger is easy and filling
This twist on the classic burger pairing has all the fillings you love in chicken and a hearty chicken pot pie meal, but comes together without any of the fuss.
Country music superstars use ground chicken as the base for burgers. Ground chicken is an economical way to use up a popular poultry item.
In an interview published by taste of country, Yearwood said that the dish is “everything you could want.”
“When you bite into it, you’re like, ‘This tastes like childhood,’” Yearwood admitted. “So, I get a lot of requests for him at home.”
Burger Patty is a mix of many delicious ingredients
The base of the burger patty is ground chicken. However, the plethora of chopped vegetables adds to the flavor factor.
Trisha sautes celery, carrots, shallot, chicken broth, celery seeds, and salt. For that, she adds panko breadcrumbs and milk and pepper before adding in the ground chicken.
After shaping the meat mixture into patties, as seen hereTrisha places them in a hot skillet where she cooks each one till brown and cooked.
A luscious sauce is poured on top
The sauce is a combination of the creamy white sauce you would find inside a traditional pot pie.
In a separate saucepan, the Food Network Star adds butter, flour and garlic powder. She mixes it continuously to make a paste which she dilutes with milk. As the sauce thickens, Trisha adds peas.
To serve up delicious burgers, Yearwood stacks them on top of soft hamburger buns. Topped with sauce, this deconstructed version of the family favorite is complete.
Trisha says her new cookbook is a combination of family favorites
“The book is a combination of a few things you’ve seen on TV shows and a lot of things that were born out of ideas,” Yearwood explained.
“Gartho [Brooks] Would say, ‘Can you make breakfast lasagna, but not just casserole – like, lasagna with noodles, full lasagna, but breakfast?’” he revealed.
“I made it in many different ways and times and figured out what was the best way, and it turned out to be a recipe,” Yearwood explained as Taste of the Country reports.
Trisha’s Southern Kitchen Airs Saturdays at noon EST on the Food Network.
