“It felt like I sank into the earth and fell to the ground. I can sleep now. I wake up with moderate happiness. I thought it hit, and I was like, ‘Let’s ride.’ And as soon as the testosterone leaves my body, I feel a lot better. I’m more energized. I feel how I feel I should have always felt.”

She said, “It’s puberty as an adult if you do it at my age—it’s second puberty.” Describing her experience, she explained that the process is not easy for trans people.
Dorfman appreciated the support she received. She revealed that her parents couldn’t contact her after the interview was published because they were “making phone calls.”

The actor and director could not hide her excitement as she was battling depression and suicidal thoughts for the last 28 years of her life. As she explained, this depression led her to substance abuse. Dorfman hated himself and his life. She opened up about a dark time in her life, saying:
“I look at the internet chronicle of my photos from the time I started working, and I can see how sad I was in every picture. It’s wild.”
This change in attitude and worldview was also noticed by some of her friends, especially the one she had not met since the lockdown began.
After meeting her on her birthday, Dorfman recalled how she told that she used to be very mean but is now very nice. She laughed at the comment, explaining that she felt so uncomfortable in her own skin at the time.
