‘The Morning Show’ episode recap: Bradley Jackson and Daniel Henderson both want to moderate the Democratic debate
Bradley and Daniel Henderson (Deason Terry) both want the same thing in the episode, according to Apple TV+ Streaming began on October 8, 2021. They want to moderate a high-profile debate. Both anchors make it clear they want the gig but Corey Ellison (Billy Crudup) and Stella Buck (Greta Lee) have other ideas. They want Alex to do that. Except there isn’t a very minor problem. she does not want. Alex refuses when Stella pushes him on the idea. And when Chip Black (Mark Duplass) tries to reconsider Alex he doesn’t get a nice hand gesture in response.
Daniels turns to Mia Jordan (Karen Pittman) to make her stand. He asks her to bring him with Stella. When Mia does just that, she finds out what Stella thinks of Daniel, that she doesn’t have “it”. This, of course, gets back to Daniel, who, as a result, goes off-script and sings a song live on air to Alex.
For Bradley, she takes a different approach. After some advice from Laura Peterson (Juliana Margulies), host of UBA365, she decides to apologize to Corey for her behavior on New Year’s Eve. So she turns to him and they have a conversation that ends in a hug.
It was later revealed that neither Bradley nor Daniels got the gig. After a conversation with Stella, Alex agreed to moderate the debate.
Laura Peterson tells Bradley Jackson about her sexuality
In the midst of talking about moderating the debate, Bradley’s sexuality comes to the fore. Laura says that she is going down the same path she was at UBA in the ’90s. Before he was kicked out for being gay. At one point, Laura suggested that Bradley use his sexuality to his advantage when lobbying for the moderator position. But the conversation quickly heats up — Bradley breaks a vase and walks out — after Witherspoon’s character says she doesn’t define her sexuality.
It looks like Fred Miklen is attempting to launch a smear campaign against Hannah Schoenfeld as the wrongful death trial continues.
As anchors compete for the moderator position, Cory has a potential crisis to deal with. They learn that Fred Micklen (Tom Irwin) is trying to attack UBA’s head booker Hannah Schönfeld (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who died of an apparent drug overdose in Season 1 to the press. Fred is allegedly trying to write false stories about her to defame her name while her family’s wrongful death trial continues.
After some investigation, Corey learns that he cannot stop the stories from being published. So he goes on board but things don’t go well. He has an intense conversation with the head of the board, Cybill Richards (Holland Taylor), and it ends with his refusal to do anything.
