Chase fans were left open as they watched Darragh Ennis trample on in a humiliating triple defeat.
Wednesday’s edition of the ITV quiz show saw an Irish scientist ‘losing the plot’ with a series of wrong answers.
The Chaser, dubbed Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis, is confronted by Paul, Lynsey and Sarah in a shocking final chase.
Their lack of knowledge left the trio with £11,000 after Darragh faced several pushbacks.
The contestants had answered 16 correct questions in the allotted time.
As Darragh prepared to take his turn, host Bradley Walsh commented: “It’s been a winning score before – but it’s short.”
Darragha answered the second question wrongly and then went downstairs from there.
The 41-year-old opened the door to a massive eight pushbacks – five of which correctly answered his challengers.
One of them included the question: “What type of transport was the LMS Jubilee class?”
To which Darragh replied “Ship”, while Threesome stole the matter by correctly answering “Train”.
Congratulating the team, Bradley commented: “Eight pushbacks, five executed – you need pushbacks.”
While Darragh sheepishly admitted that he “got something wrong”.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: “The chaser had a true shocker, the team deserves the win… #thechase.”
Another added: “Poor Darragh lost the plot which is unusual.”
A third quipped: “It’s not on fire tonight, what’s going on #TheChase.”
“Time to get rid of Darren as Chaser on Chase…too bad,” said one sternly.
Another viewer tweeted: “Blimie Darragh, today’s not your best day #TheChase”.
Chase airs weekdays at 5 p.m. on ITV.
