This is the terrifying moment when an eight-foot shark sank its teeth into the spear fisherman’s leg and ripped an artery.
Parker Simpson was swimming off the coast of Florida, United States, when the reef shark “got out of nowhere” and attacked him.
talking to many times, Simpson said he was spearfishing with his friends off the island of Boca Chica and was recording the excursion with a camera tied to his mask.
When the attack took place, the group had caught a 34-inch black grouper.
Footage shows Simpson looking around the water to catch more fish when a shark tears off some of his leg meat.
“As soon as it turned towards me, it started accelerating and its pectoral fins turned down – it’s pure aggression,” he said.
“As much as I could, it was already against my wings.
“He grabbed the left wing, then he bit the right wing – a part of it – then a little bit my leg.
“I was stabbing him. I knew right off the bat that it was bad.”
The clip shows Simpson drifting in the water as the shark maneuvers around him before disappearing into the ocean.
In the footage, Simpson looks down at the flesh hanging from his leg and bleeding into the water.
“I put my hand on the wound and tried to swim but after about ten to 15 seconds I realized I could no longer use this leg,” he said.
Simpson then screams for help from his friends, one of them pulling him back safely.
According to Simpson, the animal had torn his tibial artery, but despite his injury, he said he still loved sharks.
If he wanted me to die, I would have died.”
“They are beautiful creatures and perfect hunters,” he said. “If it wanted me to die, I would die.”
The footage was filmed in 2017, but has since resurfaced due to the recent number of shark attacks around the world.
Last month, a teenager was attacked by a shark while surfing a beach in Florida, known as the “bite capital” of the world.
Doyle Nielsen, 16, was pedaling in the water on New Smyrna Beach on September 9 when the accident happened.

Just yesterday, a surfer was surrounded by sharks after being caught at a school of fish in Brevard County, Florida.
Heart-stopping snaps—taken by his partner Laura Evans near Sebastian Inlet—show the dorsal fin rising out of the water just a few inches from Eli.
As the hunters set off, Laura quickly took a few pictures of the terrifying scene.
Keen surfer Allie told Fox 35: “They were jumping everywhere. One of them hit me in the head.
“I think a big tarp went under my board and I didn’t know there was a shark behind me.”
