Lightweight rivals Teofimo López and Devin Haney clashed and then agreed to a massive lightweight integration the following year.
The two were in Fresno, Calif., to see former four-division champion Mickey Garcia stunned by Spanish outsider Sandor Martin.
But the headlines of the night were shared when the unbeaten pair of 22-year-old Honey and 24-year-old Lopez were given consecutive catches.
Their father, who both trains their sons, was also present and involved in a heated exchange back and forth.
Lopez defeated 33-year-old Vasily Lomachenko last October to win the WBA, IBF and WBO lightweight titles as well as the WBC ‘franchise’ belt.
Meanwhile Honey is the current WBC champion, and argues that Lopez cannot be considered undisputed.
After months of delay with the battle moving from Triller to DAZN, Lopez is set to face the mandatory challenger Jorge Cambos Jr., 28, on November 27.
And Haney is looking to return in December and an offer has been sent to Jojo Diaz – who is without an opponent after Ryan Garcia’s injury.

It will see two fight in December – before a grudge match between former sparring teammates Honey and Lopez can begin.
The pair agreed that, if they both win their next fights, they will face each other the following year, holding the all-light title.
Before Lopez tested positive for the coronavirus before withdrawing from his initial fight with the Combosos in August, he vowed to take Honey out of the spotlight.
He told SunSport: “I can’t believe this guy is in the game, he’s a cheater, he’s a fake. I can’t respect anyone like that.
“And the whole thing is just trying to get him out, he’s done what he did but this guy has been fed on silver spoons his whole life.
“Only people who know him, know him and understand what I mean. I just want the guy out, I need him.”
“But these guys are scared, they’re really running away and I wish people could actually see that part, but they’re not going to show it.
“There are too many fakes in this world, so when they’re fake, they make it up, and they’re all fake.”
