After dropping husband Dan Neal’s last name, newly single Rylan Clarke has asked the BBC to call him ‘Rylan’.
The It Takes Two host was credited by her first name when she appeared on the Strictly spin-off show, while co-host Janet Manara was credited with her full name.
“They thought it was best to make a fresh start and the easiest way to do that was to go back to just one name,” Strictly explains the source.
“He didn’t want to make a big fuss — just to change it onscreen.”
Any reference to the popular presenter’s last names has also been removed from his Twitter account.
Rylan recently returned to work to focus on her marriage to Dan, with whom she tied the knot in November 2015.
The TV favorite halted her work on Radio 2 and The One Show for five months, finally returning to TV in September.
At the time, she explained: “Following the news of Dan and I spending time apart, I feel like I have to speak up – the way it’s being reported is unfair.
“I’ve made many mistakes that I deeply regret and essentially broke up our marriage.
“I have taken time off from work because I am not in a good place at the moment and am asking for help.
“I’m trying to take every day one at a time and want to thank everyone for respecting our privacy at this time and for their support.”
However, last month it was reported that divorce was the “only way out” for the couple, and Rylan stopped wearing his wedding ring at the end of last month.
A representative for Rylan has been contacted for comment.
