Stacey Solomon reflected on her “painful” early days of motherhood with two-year-old son Rex as she shared her nerves for the weight of her newborn.
The 32-year-old star welcomed her first daughter on Monday, and she thought about her older children when they were kids.
Taking to her Instagram story today, the TV favorite shared an adorable video of her sleeping little girl as she lay in her cot.
Resting on a bed of flowers and wearing a white babygro with a pink heart pattern, the baby seemed content at Pickle Cottage — with Stacy and fiancée Joe Swash yet to decide on a name for him.
Although her day as a new mom was totally enjoyable, Stacy spoke candidly as she told her followers about the reality behind her post in the caption.
She wrote: “Today was weight day. I was really nervous, Rex’s weight day she was 14% less and it was all a little painful.
“So I worked myself a little bit today… but he’s fine and within the lines! So now I have my shoulders down and I’m in bed, Rex is sleeping next to me and I watch him wake up.” and get ready for her feeding party during the night.
“But I’m ready with 10 pints of water and a giant Dairy Milk Dame bar.”
This comes as the TV favorite bravely revealed that after being open about her difficulty with Rex being born, she is struggling with breastfeeding again.
She told her followers: “I’m struggling to feed again this time, so spending all my energy feeding, eating and resting.
“Also seeing local lactation specialists and community midwives who have been incredible, so this time hoping for a more positive journey at the end but not putting pressure on myself.”
Stacey added: “Even though it makes me a little sad. Whatever happens will happen.”
The TV favorite documented her struggle with Rex in 2019, sharing at the time: “Breastfeeding never happened to me the way I imagined it to be. I tried my best to try and master it, but so did Wasn’t supposed to be.”
I lifted myself up a bit today… but that’s fine and fine!
She confessed to feeling “like a failure” for not being able to feed her newborn, and spoke openly about losing bonding time with her.
She wrote: “I felt like I had failed and I had lost that special time and chance to bond with Rex. I thought everyone would feed her and I would lose my baby.”
However, Stacy was eventually able to come to terms with it, saying: “The truth is, I did my best. Every child is different.
“I’m so lucky that I have some wonderful memories of breastfeeding and some women don’t get that chance. I have a very special bond with Rex, one that will be whether or not I breastfeed, he grew in my belly.” And we’ve known each other for a long time.
“I love bottle feeding, sometimes it’s nice to share a meal with Joe and our family, they’re not stealing it, just helping and bonding.”
Stacy is the mother of Rex and the newborn, 13-year-old Zachary and nine-year-old Leighton.
