One person was killed and seven others were injured in a shootout during a homecoming party near Fort Valley State University in Georgia.
The incident happened overnight on Saturday at an off-campus party block away from the school and is being investigated.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has said that the shooting scene in Fort Valley is still an “active scene”.
The condition of seven injured people is stable, as Reported by CNN.
Moreover, according to officials, one of the killed was not a university student.
According to WXIA TV, the person was 27-year-old Tyler French from Byron.
FVSU said in a statement, “There have been reports of injuries to students, but no life is in danger at this time.
“As a precautionary measure, the campus was closed until campus police determined that the premises did not pose a danger to the community.”
The purported video of the shooting was posted on social media and multiple shots could be heard.
It is homecoming weekend at the university and while the lockdown has now been lifted, an alumni breakfast and homecoming parade scheduled for Saturday was cancelled.
However, the homecoming football game will take place as planned but with increased security.
None of the accused has been arrested in the firing.
