EastEnders legend Shane Richie has dropped a big hint that his former co-star Jake Wood has been confirmed for I’m A Celebrity.
In July, it was revealed the actor — who played Max Branning for 15 years — was in advanced talks to be signed for the 2021 series.
In February he exited Albert Square in an explosive story in which his character was abandoned.
Now pal Shane — who’s taking a break from EastEnders and reprising her West End role in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie — has revealed “evidence” that she’s definitely going to be cast.
“I keep hearing all kinds of rumours,” Shane said exclusively Tully’s Shocktaber Fest.
“May I tell you who I’ve heard? I’ve heard of Richard Madley and Jake Wood.
“I left Jake a text and he didn’t respond, so he may be in isolation now.. but you didn’t hear that from me.”
Asked what advice he would give to Jake after missing out on a place in the finals last year, Shane said: “Just enjoy it.”
The 57-year-old starred in the first series to be filmed in Wales after the coronavirus ruled out travel to Australia.
Giovanna Fletcher was crowned queen of the palace.
Shane said: We thought it was going to be the 20th special, but now it’s going back to Wales, not Australia.
“It has taken away some of the peculiarity.
“But I had the best three weeks.”
Starting tomorrow, Shane will star as Hugo/Loco Chanel everyone is talking about jamie After a brief break.
Now he will be on a nationwide tour till April next year.
But Shane admits he has to be careful about what he’s eating — so he can still fit into his outfit.
“I’ve had to watch my weight because it’s so easy to lift a balloon,” he said.
“As women know, when you have to wear a dress and seven-inch heels, you can’t carry a lot of weight.
“The makeup in the break has given my skin a break, but I’m really excited to be back on stage.
“It’s great to come back and see the audience come to the theater and feel the buzz.”
- Tully’s Shocktaber Fest Will run till 6th November.
