Royal Mail is hiring about 20,000 temporary workers in the coming months to meet demand during the Christmas period.
The Postal Service says it needs additional staff to help grow Christmas Post and online shopping.
Parcelforce is also looking for additional employees and recruitment will begin at the end of October.
Around 17,150 seasonal workers are needed in mail centres, distribution centers and data centers across England, 1,800 in Scotland, 650 in Wales and 500 in Northern Ireland.
Seasonal workers will help sort the growing volume of online shopping orders, along with Christmas parcels and cards.
An additional 3,650 employees will be recruited at Royal Mail Group’s express parcel business, Parcelforce Worldwide, 1,500 at its international parcel hub at Heathrow and 650 data input roles across three sites in the UK.
Zarina Brown, Chief People Officer, Royal Mail, said: “Our seasonal workforce is incredibly important to our operations and we look forward to welcoming those who return year after year as well as those who return for the first time. Joining us.
“Being a part of delivering Christmas is a wonderful experience and we know it provides so many opportunities for employment and engagement in the communities we serve.”
