Richard Madley has been slammed by onlookers after he shut down a guest on Good Morning Britain today as a “darling”.
The 65-year-old presenter was talking to parenting expert Jane Evans about the violence at Squid Games when she used the word “derogatory.”
Jane was arguing that the students should not be allowed to watch the show because they are repeating it on the playground.
She argued with crime writer Mark Billingham, who says that “we’ve been here before” because the squid game is ‘no more violent than many other shows’.
He says it is a moral issue if parents are allowing young children to openly watch violent programs.
Richard turned to Jane and asked her: “Can you listen to Mark, we have…”
As Jane interrupted, Richard replied: “Dear, may I finish my question?”
Those watching at home were shocked to hear him calling and took to Twitter to discuss it.
One person said: “Did Richard just say “darling” to silence her… you may have heard it wrong.”
While a second added: “Not sure if a presenter should call female guests dear! It’s 2021 FFS.”
A third commented: “Did I just hear Richard Medley say “hang on darling” to silence a guest so he can get his point??
And the fourth raged: “Did Richard really call his guest speaker a ‘darling’!!!”
