Last week it was revealed that actor Bill Bellows was joining Corey’s cast as the lead new character Stu.
And if any onlookers think they recognize the 64-year-old from anywhere other than Weatherfield, they’ll find themselves in good company.
The man behind Homeless Bella who just hit Cobbles is perhaps best known for his role as George Cartick for his role as Ted Lasso.
But fans will soon get to know Bill as Bearded Stu, who made an appearance on the much-loved ITV soap earlier this month.
He had come to pick up an order from Speed Dal, a Pakistani street food restaurant run by Sophie Webster, for a homeless soup kitchen.
But recently it was revealed that Corey Boss is signing the actor as a regular character.
A source said: “Bill is a great signing for the soap. He’s the key to a major story to come and the owners are thrilled he’s joined”.
Next week, Stu will be discovered carrying a bag of apples dumped by Franklin’s killer Corey Brent to cover up the evidence.
Corey claims that he dug it in the river, but Asha sees Stu and interrogates him.
The schoolgirl is determined to take the bag and hand it over to the police, but Stu bolts.
After Asha confides in Nina, the pair discover an image of Stu from the restaurant’s CCTV footage and use it to track him down in the soup kitchen.
The amateur sleuth questions Billy about Stu, oblivious to the fact that he is nearby and is listening to their conversation.
They later locate him with the help of Sean’s friend Carol, explaining how the evidence can help catch Corey, but he is eager to stay out of the whole affair and runs away to the girls’ dismay.
Bill’s character of Ted Lasso has also been no stranger to drama. In the Apple TV+ sports comedy-drama series, he plays a football coach who is fired by a club owner for accidental misbehavior and inappropriate attire.
He was replaced by protagonist Ted, portrayed by Jason Sudeikis, and continued to work as a football pundit on Telly.
The Middlesbrough-born star’s career has been long and varied, with roles in popular shows including Doctors and Casualty, and has also appeared in the likes of Broadchurch, Vera and Waterloo Road.
On top of that, Bill’s name has been linked to several upcoming titles, such as Nocturnal, Vidya and Give Them Wings.
