Rap superstar Aich surprised fans yesterday with a secret lunchtime performance at his local branch of Subway.
The 21-year-old musician performed the new single Party Round My Place in a Manchester shop after posting a surprise call-out to fans, giving them the opportunity to show off.
Only 25 lucky followers were allowed in-store, which was rebranded SubwAITCH for the day.
The star’s favorite customized order of the Italian BMT sandwich (renamed Ach Footlong for the occasion) was also available so fans could order their Italian-style snack just like the wrapper does.
Born and raised in New Moston, Manchester chart-topper Aich has quickly become one of the UK’s hottest rap stars.
He said: “I wanted to do an intimate gig for my Manchester crew and I thought it would be a good venue.
“It’s been great, the subway is big enough to put me down and carry me on top of me – and be sure to counter an aitch sub before they leave.”
Appearing on the track with Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, AJ Tracy, Stefalon Dawn and Heidi One, Aich has garnered over billions of global streams and over five million record sales worldwide.
Ashley, an H-Super fan who attended the gig, said: “So surprised to see Aich at my local subway, I really enjoyed the gig.
“I’ve been listening to him all the time, so it really made my day.”
Mace Alansari, UK and Ireland marketing head at Subway, said: “When we heard that Ach was a Subway fan we wanted to do something special for his fans.
“What better way to collaborate with H to rebrand our Subway Manchester Piccadilly store specifically for this amazing event and then to rename it your favorite Subway footlong!
“It’s the first time we’ve ever staged a gig at Subway — who knows, it might not be the last.”
