“NCIS: Hawaii” actress Vanessa Lachey shared a video showing how passionate she was about playing the lead role in the CBS procedural drama the day she found out.

The latest spinoff in the “NCIS” franchise stars Lachey as Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant, the first female special agent from NCIS Pearl. The character reflects real life in such a way that the actress is the first woman to lead the franchise in her own spinoff.


Last week, Lachey shared a nearly one-minute video on Instagram, in which he filmed himself, just moments after receiving news that he had received the role. She cries hysterically and is almost unable to speak as she tries to explain to her young son in the back seat of her car that she is crying tears of joy.

“I remember the day I got the call ‘You got the job!’” she captioned the video. “I’ll never forget this! Dreams do come true. A week from today, our show premieres and I’m grateful for the opportunity. My life has changed forever.”

The touching video jumps into action immediately, with the star explaining that he hung up the phone only after getting a call about his lead role.

“Okay, I’m in the car and I just found out I got the job and I was so happy!” She says through tears. “I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what to do. Thanks, I’m so happy!”

Then he addressed his confused younger son, saying, “We’re happy, right? He doesn’t know what we’re happy about.”

Lachey then walks over to a friend’s house and quickly explains “I got the job!” Inspire a friend to hug and kiss.

“I’m a mess. I didn’t think I’d react that way,” she ends the video as they embrace.

CBS Studios was also among several commenters wishing her well on the post, which read: “Okay, here’s the crying. We can’t wait for the world to meet your Jen.”

According to tv line, Lachey is joined by Yasmin Al-Bustami, Jason Anton, Tori Anderson, Alex Tarrant and Noah Mills in the new CBS series.
