The desperate search for a 5-year-old boy who went missing from a small Idaho community two months ago continues this week, when investigators said corn fields were cut down and no trace of the child was found.

Investigators are “committed to investigating every detail” in their search for Michael Joseph Vaughan, who went missing near his home in Fruitland – a small community of 5,400 residents – on the evening of July 27, Fruitland Police said in an update on Friday.

In addition to the harvested fields, including corn fields, which police said many community members were concerned about, investigators will be exploring irrigation drainage within the next two weeks as it approaches the date when irrigation is scheduled for the season. The water will turn off.

Police said, “We are hopeful.” “Sometimes the answers are slow, but the Fruitland Police Department and our partners are committed to bringing Michael home safely.”

More than two months after Vaughan went missing, investigators still don’t know what happened to him. The long, detailed search involved more than a dozen law enforcement agencies, K-9 units, dive teams, paragliders and drones.

Police said Vaughan’s family continues to cooperate and work with investigators in their search for the missing boy.

A $26,000 reward for the child’s safe return was placed in an account with the City of Fruitland and will be active until November 15.

Vaughn, who responds to the nickname “monkey”, was last seen wearing 11 flip-flop sandals along with a light blue Minecraft shirt and black boxer briefs.
