The Duke and Duchess of Sussex live in California with their son Archie and daughter Lilibet
Meghan Markle’s estranged father went on television to plead with his famous daughter to see her grandchildren.
On Tuesday, Thomas Markle was interviewed for ITV’s “Good Morning Britain” from his home in Mexico, where he spoke about not meeting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s two children. Thomas admitted that he was “very concerned” that he would not live to meet her.
“We’re at a point where I think we should both grow up, talk, do makeup for the kids,” said the former Hollywood lighting director. “It’s ridiculous. Almost four years. It’s crazy.”
“My message to the kids is that they have two loving families,” shared the 77-year-old. “…I think it’s important for them to know that they have two families and that eventually they’re going to grow up and they want to know more about them.”

Thomas also alleged that “people” in California told him he could take legal action to visit and win over his grandchildren. However, the disheartened father alleged that he was not planning to take such a drastic step.
“People have suggested in California that I might sue to see my grandchildren,” he explained. “But I think if I did I would be doing what Meghan and Harry are doing. I don’t want to involve my grandchildren in this situation. I keep my grandchildren as friendly parents and all four.” And I want to be seen with friendship. I don’t want hostile parents looking at my grandchildren.”
Markle welcomed a son named Archie in 2019, followed by a daughter named Lilibet in June of this year. She and her husband Prince Harry and their two children live in the coastal city of Montecito, California.
Thomas famously declined to attend the Duke and Duchess’s 2018 royal wedding when he staged paparazzi photos. At the time, the vice-chancellor cited an upcoming heart surgery as the reason for his absence.

The former American actress, 40, sued publisher Associated Newspapers for privacy and copyright infringement in five February 2019 articles in which she reproduced large portions of a letter she wrote to Thomas about her marriage.
Thomas has claimed that Markle lost contact with him after the wedding. He also alleged that Markle wanted him to stop talking to his half-sister, Samantha Markle, and half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., who frequently speak to the press. However, Thomas said, “I couldn’t.”
“Eventually sooner or later, he should start talking to me,” he said. “…Once she hooked up with Harry, she changed.”

Markle became the Duchess of Sussex after marrying the 37-year-old British prince.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departure from royal duties began in 2020, in what they described as intrusive British media and racist attitudes towards the former “Suits” star.
In the wake of leaving royal duties, he gave an explosive TV interview to Oprah Winfrey in March, in which the couple made painful comments describing how dark Archie’s skin could be before his birth. The Duchess spoke about the deep isolation she felt inside the royal family that led her to contemplate suicide.
Buckingham Palace said the racism allegations leveled by the couple were “relatable” and would be addressed privately.
