A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman’s body was found near a community center in south-east London.
The victim, aged 20, was discovered on Saturday in Parkland near Kidbrook Park Road in the Royal London Borough of Greenwich.
Police said they were called to the scene near the OneSpace building at 5.32 pm.
The suspect was arrested a few hours later at around 9.10 pm from Lewisham. He is in custody for questioning.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement, “Officers believe they know the identity of the woman, who is 20 years old, but they await formal identification and confirmation that next of kin have been notified. “
“Arrangements for the postmortem examination will be made in due course.”
The force said an investigation had been launched and there were several crime scenes. Officers were seen guarding near the blue tent.
Detectives are also investigating the death of a man outside Belvedere railway station on Saturday night.
The police were called at around 10.13 pm when the victim, who was over 40 years old, was found to be critically injured with a knife.
He was declared brought dead at the scene but is yet to be formally identified.
The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation into the murder. No one had been arrested as of Sunday afternoon.
