‘Jeopardy!’ contestant Matt Amodio becomes third player to break $1 million in earnings

matt amodio, New Haven, Conn. A Ph.D. student, has become the third person in “Danger”! History of earning over $1 million in non-tournament games.

In Friday’s episode, Emodio’s 28th win brought his total to $1,004,001. He won $48,800 on the TODAY show and put him well above the million-dollar mark.


The only other contestants to win more than $1 million in regular season games are Ken Jennings, whose 74-game streak earned $2,520,700, and James Holzhauer, who earned $2,462,216 during 32 wins.

“It was beyond my wildest dreams,” Amodio said. “I knew it was a possibility, but I thought it was a very distant possibility, and it’s unbelievable for it to actually happen.”

Amodio’s next change to increase its stake will come on Monday.
