‘Jeopardy!’ champion Matt Amodio hits yet another milestone, celebrates on Twitter

“Danger!” Champion Matt Amodio’s stats continue to rise as he takes another place in the popular game show’s Hall of Fame.

30 year Ph.D. student based out of New Haven, Conn. The show returned on Monday for the season 38 premiere, which grossed $574,801 in 18 games, placing it third on “Jeopardy.” The all-time highest winners list in regular games, behind only greats James Holzhauer and Ken Jennings, who won $2,462,216 and $2,520,700, respectively.


He continued his winning streak that night and again on Tuesday, bringing his net worth to $678,801. While she still has some time before it breaks into Holzauer’s net worth, her win on Tuesday earned her a distinct accolade. “Danger!” hall of fame. With 20 consecutive wins, Amodio is now tied for third place in that category with Julia Collins, who went on a similar winning streak in 2014, earning only $428,100.

In A preview for the episode, Amodio noted that bonding with Collins puts him in “very good company”.

He took to his own Twitter to note how happy he was to be associated with Collins and noted that he saw her as a fierce competitor while running.

“I really enjoyed watching Julia on #Juggle, what a thrill to try to tie her amazing streak!” he has written.

In a follow-up tweet, she added: “Tied up with JeopardyJulia… Incredible. I’d say #danger dreams do come true, but I’m way ahead of what I dream at the moment!”

On Wednesday, Emodio will not only seek to break Collins’ record, but he will attempt to extend his overall win, and also secure his spot in third and inches closer to Holzauer and Jennings.

While there have been many champions in game show history, none have won their game among more hosts than Amodio. He began his time on the show not long after Alex Trebek’s death, winning game-after-game at the most chaotic time in the show’s history as guest hosts filled in each week. So far, his 19-game winning streak has seen him field questions from Robin Roberts, LeVar Burton, David Faber, Joe Buck and, in Monday’s season 38 premiere, embroiled Mike Richards.
