Instagram has revealed two new hidden features its boss calls “gems”.
They include a new “Rage Shake” that will encourage users to shake their phone if it does something they don’t like.
Instagram will now allow people to edit a carousel, delete an image, delete the whole thing, and repost it.
But it’s the “rage shake” feature that’s most unusual. Throwing the phone around would offer the option to report a problem, and was encouraged by the app’s boss, Adam Mosseri.
“Have you ever used Instagram and it just wasn’t working as it should?” He said in a video posted on Twitter.
“Maybe the stories didn’t load, maybe the audio wasn’t working, maybe you just couldn’t upload a photo and it was getting really, really bothering you?
“Okay, now you can literally shake the phone and a little option will pop up that will allow you to report a problem.”
Instagram isn’t the first company to shake the phone to indicate something was amiss. Apple has long offered a “Shake to Undo” option on the iPhone, where rotating the device brings up the option to revert to a previous position.
To access the “carousel editing” addition, which Mr. Mosseri noted was an “finally” feature, users simply click on the three dots at the top corner of the carousel. The offending photo can then be swiped.
