The All-Star MVP is also universally celebrated for his philanthropic efforts and activism. Recently, YouTube made an announcement that they have taken down a documentary that featured James’ I Promise School.
‘I Promise’ is a school created by LeBron James
In the summer of 2018, LeBron James opened a school called Eye Promise School in his hometown of Ohio. The learning center caters to seriously at-risk elementary students, giving them opportunities they might not have otherwise.
“Hope is a very powerful thing. No matter what, if a child knows that someone really believes in them, their perspective on everything changes,” the All-Star said. People. “With our school, everything is based on giving kids the belief that they can do anything.”
I Promise School has tons of resources to support children in their learning and everyday life. A group of incredible teachers make sure kids are where they need to be academically. The place offers free breakfast and lunch, so that no child goes hungry. It even has a clothing wardrobe where they can choose whatever they want to wear.
“They know that I believe in them, they know their teachers, the entire staff, and they believe in everything we put around them,” the Olympic athlete said. “It’s incredible what they can do when they feel that support.”
YouTube picks a special feature documentary
YouTube recently announced that they have picked up a feature documentary showcasing I Promise School. The film premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Festival in New York City. Following both the students and the teachers, the documentary will give full details about the first academic year the school was open.
Taking an in-depth look at the day-to-day issues and impact of the school, the film will showcase how staff, students and families work together to provide an environment that is beneficial to all.
An in-depth look at the I Promise School’s blueprint for urban, public education will also be front and center. Philosophy is a holistic, STEM-focused approach with love and socio-emotional learning at its core.
“It was so hard to make an impact when you were spread across more than 30 schools,” said Michelle Campbell, executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation.
