A MUM has revealed how her partner nearly died after suffering a brain aneurysm during sex.
Amanda and husband Chris were looking forward to a weekend getaway with their sister and her partner.
But upon arrival, Amanda quickly realized that romance was not going to be on the cards when she noticed they were all sharing the same room.
So when he was left alone, Amanda seized the opportunity to spend some alone time with her husband, much to her delight.
But little did she know that her joy would soon turn into pain.
“She was taking care of me,” he says, “but then suddenly I felt dizzy and disoriented.
“I was nauseous, I felt like I was riding a roller coaster, it was the worst pain I’ve ever had.”
Panicked, Amanda called 911.
“I didn’t know what to think, at which point I just went into serious panic mode,” she says.
“I was embarrassed, I didn’t want to say too much and go into too much detail.”
When the couple arrived at the ER, a CT scan confirmed that Chris had suffered a brain aneurysm that was triggered by sex.
Amanda says: “After the doctor told me that he had an aneurysm inside his brain, I was devastated.
“All kinds of scenarios would be like losing myself and I don’t want to lose him or my children have lost their father.”
Chris was unknowingly suffering from high blood pressure and hypertension for the last 4-5 years.
Doctors explained to Amanda that exertion during oral sex raised blood pressure, causing an aneurysm—and giving Chris a one in three chance of survival.
She says: “The scariest part of the process for me was listening to the odds she was pulling.
“He had made it through a full deployment in the military and now sex was about to kill him.
“It hurts me to learn that the person you love is in pain because of you or your actions.”
Thankfully, Chris made a full recovery after the surgery.
He says: “The worst thing about recovery was that the doctors said not to have sex at all.
“I think the happy ending is that I now appreciate every moment and look forward to the now rather than waiting for the distant future.”
