A husband built a house after his wife complained about the view that rotates 360 degrees.
Vojin Kusik spent six years building the spinning house so that Ljublica could see one minute and passers-by the next.
The 72-year-old said: “I was tired of his complaints and the repeated renovations of our family home and I said: ‘I will build a revolving house for you so that you can move it around as you please’.
“When I reached an advanced age and my children took over the family business, I finally had enough time to satisfy my wife’s desire to be able to change the position of the rooms in her house.”
The house, located near the town of Srebek in northern Bosnia, rotates around an axis of seven meters using an electric motor and the wheels of an old military transport vehicle.
It offers views of corn fields and farmland – or forests and river – at whatever speed they want.
“The house can make a full circle for 24 hours at the slowest speed, while at the fastest spinning it can make a full circle in 22 seconds,” Vojin said.
He said the inspiration came from Serbian-American inventors Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin.
The project took six years to complete, excluding time for a hospital stay due to a heart condition.
“I asked doctors to try longer [my life] At least for a year because I have this project on my mind, and nobody knows how to get it done,” Vojin said.
Prior to their current home, Wojnin built a more exclusive home in which he and Ljubicka raised their three children.
At the time, Ljublica wanted their bedrooms to face down, so she did – but that meant her living room was off the street.
Ljubicka soon became fed up with not seeing people entering her front garden, so Wojin remodeled the entire space.
He said: “I had to tear down the wall between my two bedrooms to convert it into a living room and move all [electrical] Establishment.
“It was a very demanding job, it took a lot from me, but I did what she wanted.”
‘Tired of his complaints’
Then six years ago, the only one of the couple’s three children who didn’t fly the nest got married and her parents decided to let her live on the top floor of their family home while they moved to the ground floor.
But it meant that once again Vojin had to break down some walls – and he knew his wife wanted something new soon.
“Feather [this] Point, in order not to wait for him to change his mind again, I decided to build a new, revolving house so he could move around as he wanted.”
Wojnin designed and built the house himself without any formal training, he also never went to university.
Ljubicka declined to comment on her labor of love, but Vojin joked: “Now, our front door also rotates, so if she sees unwanted guests on our way, she can turn around the house.” and can drive them away.”
