Google is holding its latest launch event today where it will unveil the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
The event will begin in the UK at 6 pm (that is, 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Eastern time in Google’s local Pacific time).
It will be streamed on the Made by Google YouTube channel and on a specific Google website. The YouTube page offers the option to sign up for notification when the event starts, and can be found below:
The site contains only basic information, as well as a feature that lets users change the look of a website by holding the spacebar, but details about the new phone have already been leaked extensively.
The changing appearance of the website, for example, is a reference to Android 12’s ‘Material You’ design. This will update the widget and button palette to match the colors in the background image of the phone.
Google has also built in notifications and quick-setting functions that appear when users move more rounded and larger down from the top of the screen. A beta is available for current Pixel devices, but Google has hinted at more Pixel-exclusive features ahead.
Other features of the Pixel phone, such as its new Tensor chip, have also been revealed by Google. It brings artificial intelligence programs directly to the phone – providing more functionality to tools like Google Translate and Google Lens.
Even more details about the phone have been leaked long before its announcement, while other stats were revealed exclusively by Google itself at events restricted to the media.
As such, we know that the Pixel 6 Pro will feature a 6.7-inch QHD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate. In contrast, the regular Pixel 6 will feature a 6.4-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate.
Instead of a sensor on the back of the device for the Pixel 5, both phones will have under-screen fingerprint scanning.
Granthshala Will host a live-blog of the event with all the details, as well as review new equipment as they become available.
