Eastenders’ Louisa Lytton explains the meaning behind her newborn daughter’s unusual name, and her COVID fight soon after becoming a mother.
Star and fiancé Ben Bhanwra, 32, welcomed baby Aura last month, and he introduced her to the world earlier today on Loose Woman.
Always natural-looking as a new mother, Luisa revealed that it was Ben who chose the name – after the two spent their entire pregnancies convinced they were going to have a boy.
She explained: “We had a shortlist of girls’ names and boy’s names, but we forgot about the girls’ names. Ben found it somewhere … name him for the first few days as we read about it Didn’t think so, so we went back to the list and this was the name that suits her the most.”
The TV favorite also revealed that she was forced to have an emergency C-section after a “long labour”, and as she was recovering from it, she and Ben tested positive for COVID.
Luisa continued: “So it hasn’t been the best start, but she’s been totally fine, so that’s all we can really ask for.
“Since we got covid soon after that, we’ve hardly had any visitors yet, which is a shame, but everyone [from EastEnders] In touch and I am sending pictures.
“Now that the doors are open, I’m sure people will come to visit, which would be really cool.”
And discussing how she’s adapted to motherhood, Louisa told Loose Ladies: “I don’t think anything prepares you. I read every book, I talked to every friend and she’s the most It’s a good thing that’s ever happened to us, but it’s harsh.
“Ben has been amazing. Even throughout labor, I was very fortunate to have him there. Obviously there has been a time where women had to do this on their own, which is frightening But since we got him, I’ve been feeding, so that’s the only thing he can’t help with – everything else, he’s been amazing. He’s been very hands-on on Dad.”
Louisa and Ben are expected to wed next year after being forced to postpone their 2020 wedding due to the pandemic.
The star rose to fame playing the ruthless Ruby Allen in EastEnders after her character’s final scenes aired last month as she went on maternity leave.
- Loose Women airs on ITV and ITV Hub on weekdays from 12:30 pm
