Drew Barrymore recently shared a throwback photo from the time she went clubbing in 1986 with rocker Billy Idol. She posted the photo where she is hanging out with the idol while he makes a silly face at the camera. Unlike most 11-year-olds, Barrymore spent more time in clubs than in the classroom. And while Barrymore was seen in the picture when she was going into a deep drug problem, she was eventually reunited 12 years later with Idol and in a better place.

Barrymore said that her mother regarded her more as a friend than her daughter. “I had a mom, but she was like my best friend,” she told Norm MacDonald for her 2018 Netflix special, Today Report. “She was like, ‘Do you want to go to school and bully all day, or do you want to go to Studio 54?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, absolutely! I don’t want to spend the day with these little f**kers, who are awful.’ Kids are very mean.”
