Coronation Gully viewers were over the moon as they saw the same big change on the long-running soap.
This comes as Abi Franklin made a dramatic return to the ITV series on Monday evening.
The former drug addict – played by Sally Carman – escapes from Weatherfield after escaping justice for her son’s killer, Corey Brent.
In the opening scenes of this week’s episode, Kevin is seen waking up on the couch one night with Abi standing in the living room.
As Abi apologizes to Kevin, she insists that the money she stole from his bank account was for food and housing.
Hoping that this is a sign that their wedding plans are back on track, Kevin – played by Michael Le Val – hugs Abi.
Viewers took to Twitter to comment on the physical contact between the two actors.
One wrote: “Oh my god, a real hug!”
Another added: “Oh, it’s good to see Abi and Kevin embracing, no more social distancing scenes.”
A third commented: “Hey, Kevin and Abby’s hug!”
While the fourth joked: “Finally. A “real hug” in #corrieTyrone must be distraught, his story with Alina is over.
Like other TV productions across the country, Coronation Street was forced to implement strict social distancing guidelines to continue filming.
Last night’s scenes from Corey resulted in those enforcements being removed, much to audience approval.
“All the hugs on #corrie make me emotional,” wrote one. “Omg I miss seeing Contact so much!”
