Sylvie Brett gets a big break
Sylvie Brett (Kara Kilmer) is facing a lot of pressure at work. She wants to get her paramedicine program approved by Hawkins. Before making his decision, he tells her that he wants to see her in action, so he shadows her at work.
Unfortunately, Sylvie’s first call did not go well. The drug addict is having an overdose. After Narcan is given, he pulls a knife out of his boot and threatens Sylvie. She calms him down and takes out his knife, but it was still not a good situation. Sylvie had to check the weapons thoroughly and she missed the knife in her boot. When she first administered Narkan she too did not stick to the rules.
Despite her missteps, Hawkins approved Sylvie’s paramedicine program for six months. He also gifts her an old ambulance so that she can go out on call. If the program is successful, Hawkins will make the program permanent.
Is Matt Casey Leaving ‘Chicago Fire’?
Ben and Griffin, the sons of Andy Darden, the late best friend of Casey’s (Jesse Spencer), need help. Griffin is trying to take care of his brother and the family home while his mother is in prison, but things keep getting worse. Casey flies to Oregon and stays with the brothers for a few days so that he can take care of them. When he goes to their school to talk to a guidance counselor, he learns that the boys are at risk of being placed in foster care in segregated homes. Casey wants to take the boys back to Chicago, but the guidance counselor thinks it’s a bad idea to overthrow them.
After Casey returns to Chicago, he tells Herrmann about his visit. “The boys are not doing so well,” he revealed. “They are alone in the world, there is no one to help them, raise them.” Then he says that he needs to go to Oregon so that he can take care of the boys. Casey hasn’t made his decision yet, but it looks like he may be leaving 51. Will Sylvie come with him?
Darren is having relationship problems
Darren and Eric’s relationship turned sour. Eric doesn’t think they spend enough time together, so he is moving away. “You fill your vacation days with so much training that there’s no room for me,” Eric tells Darren. However, Darren explains that he needs to be on top of his game if he wants to keep his job at the firehouse.
Darren explains that what they’re doing doesn’t make sense. “It’s stupid,” says Darren. “We’re spending time together arguing about how to spend time apart.” Eric realizes he is right and they kiss. A customer watches them kiss and shakes his head in disapproval. Herrmann and the rest of the firefighters protect Darren.
As Darren and Eric are walking home, the homophobic commentator drives by and throws a glass bottle at them. The man drives but gets into an accident, causing his car to go up in flames. Darren pulls the man out of the burning car and saves his life, but he refuses to thank him. All Darren can do is walk away.
Later in the episode, Eric stops by the firehouse. He tells Darren that he is proud of him and how he handled the situation at the bar. However, he is not satisfied with this relationship. Then he breaks up Darren.
