Changing Room fans scoffed at designer Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen’s “laughable and shocking” bedroom makeover after seeing her.
As of last night’s reboot of the interior design show, viewers of the Channel 4 program clearly weren’t impressed with his work.
The 56-year-old, who hosts the series with Anna Richardson, was tasked with recreating the loft bedroom inspired by Kerry and Sophie’s without.
Pointing out their likes and dislikes, it was revealed that the pair were fans of the superhero comic book and had even incorporated a Poison Ivy theme into their wedding.
With this in mind, the quirky designer decided to go with a purple color scheme and called his project Villa Villains.
Working with a variety of colors she chose, Lawrence incorporated a rainbow headboard furnished with bold printed wallpaper, upcycled antique chairs, and a row of lights.
But it was then that a typical wardrobe door—for vertical window blinds—came to his decision to arm the audience.
“He’s Using the Blind as a Wardrobe Door [crying emojis],” said one person on Twitter.
Another angry viewer wrote: “This purple room with ceiling, arch, mural, wood frame.. I was disappointed.. Now purple vertical blinds for the wardrobe? This whole room is wrong.
“How is he a famous designer?”
A third said: “Blinds have even hooked me over the edge! Shocking.”
Trying to explain his reasoning, Lawrence said on the show: “Where there is a wardrobe, we have very little space between the wardrobe and the bed.
“It would be really inconvenient to put up fitted doors the traditional way.
“Actually, it’s best to have a vertical blind—there’s no room in it.”
He said: “You pull it out and you can fully open it and see what you’ve got in the cupboard.”
Unfortunately he failed to convince the audience, as another commented: “F*** from the Blinds on the Wardrobe.”
The Changing Room airs on Channel 4 on Wednesdays at 8 pm.
