It’s been a few months since viewers last saw Ryan Wilder and the rest of the Bat team, but they’re getting ready to save Gotham City from criminals and baddies once again. The CW recently released a trailer for the new season of Batwoman, which will premiere on October 13. And even though the video is only 15 seconds long, there are some important details fans can take away from it.
What Happened In ‘Batwoman’ Season 2?
Batwoman Season 2 introduced a new character, Ryan Wilder, who became the new Batwoman in the absence of Kate Kane. Ryan experienced many growing pains as he navigated Gotham City’s vigilante hero, but he at least had Mary and Luke to help him along the way.
A lot happened throughout the season, from new villains to a drug called Snakebite terrorizing the city. And Alice eventually (accidentally) finds her sister. Unfortunately, however, Kate had no memory of her real life.
In the end, Kate regains her memory, and she blesses Ryan to remain Batwoman, before leaving Gotham City to look for Bruce. Luke finds his father’s batwing suit. Alice is sent to prison. There, she tells Ryan that her biological mother is still alive. And, if those weren’t enough to set up the event Batwoman Season 3, Batman’s collection of villainous objects, such as poison ivy plants, are washed away in the river.
What the new teaser trailer tells us
A few things to note in the teaser trailer Batwoman Season 3, which you can watch below.
First in the video, Ryan captures poison ivy plants. This detail could mean that the villain is introduced sooner in the season rather than later. Batwoman recently announced that they have cast Bridget Regan to play the infamous Batman villain, Poison Ivy.
The CW describes Poison Ivy aka Pamela Isley as “a former botany student at Gotham University”. He is a passionate, talented scientist with a mind to change the world for the better. But his plans change when he is experimented with by a colleague, injecting toxins from various plants, turning him into the infamous Batman villain Poison Ivy. With the board effectively wiped out over the years now, Batwoman and the Bat team must prepare themselves for Poison Ivy to return with a vengeance. “
In the trailer, fans can also see a brief blink-and-you’ll-miss-it tease of Luke suiting up as Batwing. But the main focus of the 15-second teaser is to help Alice bat team behind bars, which we’ll certainly get to see a lot of. Batwoman season 3.
Everything we know about ‘Batwoman’ season 3
Actor Javicia Leslie, who plays Ryan Wilder, talks with comicbook.com what fans can expect Batwoman Season 3. He said, “Such a terrifying epic. Literally like a lot of your epic Batman villains, we have all their weapons, and they’re all left in the river, and people are going to find [them], and you’re going to be figuring out the effects these weapons have on these normal Gotham citizens and then becoming like these supervillains, and it’s just going to be so much fun. I can’t wait! I’m excited because we’re about to start shooting for Season 3, and I can’t wait to read the script and see where it goes. “
With Bridget Regan, Batwoman Season 3 will see a flurry of newcomers. Robin Givens as Jada Jett, Victoria Cartagena as Renee Montoya and Nick Creegan as Marquis Jett join the cast.
Batwoman Returns to The CW on October 13th at 9/8c.
