A body has been found in an abandoned pub next to a police station in east London.
Police arrived at the East Simpson Pub on Romford Road in Forest Gate just after 3 p.m. on Friday.
The body, believed to be badly mutilated, was discovered when construction work was going on at the site.
A weather police spokesman said the building, located next to the Forest Gate police station, had been in ruins for several years.
Police said more tests would be conducted to know more about the mysterious death and a postmortem would be conducted on Tuesday.
The building is currently covered with scaffolding and photographs show a dozen forensics searching the scene and entering the complex.
A forensic tent can also be seen outside the abandoned pub in the residential street.
A cordon has been placed outside the building and officials are present at the spot.
Since 2016, three planning applications for the site have been rejected, with the last two proposing to keep the pub open with flats above.
The pub was originally known as The Freemason’s Arms before re-opening as The Simpsons from the 1980s to the early 2000s.
It was recently a nightclub called La Luna before it closed.
