Anne Robinson was called “too old” in a brutal dig by a Countdown contestant.
Daniel Ali, 17, from Swindon, Yorkshire, definitely took his place as the presenter on the Channel 4 show yesterday afternoon.
Anne — famous for taking Mick out of contestants while hosting The Weeknd Link — teens were interested in what to do for fun.
Daniel replied: “Not much…
“I run my own YouTube and Daily Motion account. I love going to social media, clubbing.”
Anne, 76, asked: “Can you take me to the club?”
The player ruthlessly replied: “No,” and a puzzled Anne asked: “Why not?!”
Daniel didn’t hold back with his response, saying: “You’re too old, people don’t know you…”
The presenter, who celebrates her 77th birthday this weekend, asked if she could date herself while she was out on the town.
Once again, Daniel simply replied: “No.”
Viewers could hear the guest’s burly laughing in the background.
Anne, who replaced Nick Hever as host of the show earlier this year, said: “It wasn’t funny.”
The broadcaster replied: “I think the Queen of Means has met her match.”
But Susie Dent made sure not to get too upset about Anne’s comment.
She said: “We’ll go to the club with you, Anne.”
It comes after Countdown star Rachel Riley blushed recently after being uttered rude words by the board.
The presenter was awkwardly left standing beside a guest after accidentally reading “Poo Annie” in one of the guest’s letters.
Rachel, 35, smiled at the embarrassing mistake, which quickly made the rounds on Twitter.
One user scoffed: “Definitely one of my top three favorite methods.”
Another joked: “Don’t feel bad if I do” and another asked: “Is there an alternative?”
