MG has broken its sales record amid rising demand for its electric vehicles.
The British motoring brand has sold its 20,000th car of the year – a milestone never before reached.
This means sales have already eclipsed the previous record of 18,415 set throughout 2020 – up 41 percent in 2019.
Electric sales: British motoring brand MG sells its 20,000th car of the year – a milestone never reached
The growth was driven by the firm’s new electric vehicles, which include the MG5 EV and MG HS plug-in hybrid.
“Crossing the 20,000 milestone in three-and-a-half months is incredible news and shows how popular our new models are with British car buyers,” said MG’s commercial director Guy Pigounakis.
Tracing its roots in the 1920s, MG became famous for its two-seater sports cars, with the first models bearing the badges rolling off the production line at the British Motoring Institute’s Morris garage.
MG is now owned by Shanghai-based SAIC Motor, China’s largest carmaker. The MG name cars are sold in India, Australia, Brazil and South Africa.
