Allred is representing ‘Rust’ script supervisor Mamie Mitchell, who called 911 after the shooting
The “Rust” movie shooting incident will be investigated by Allied, Marocco and Goldberg, the firm of high-powered attorney Gloria Allred.
The famed attorney confirmed to Granthshala News via email that she was representing Mamie Mitchell, a script supervisor for the film, who called 911 after a shotgun was discharged.
On Thursday, actor Alec Baldwin was rehearsing a scene when he fired the prop weapon, which he was told was “cold” or unloaded, indicating the weapon was safe.
A projectile from the gun struck cinematographer Halina Hutchins, killing her. Director Joel Souza was also injured, but has since been discharged from the hospital.

“My law firm, Allred, Marocco & Goldberg, and I represent Mamie Mitchell. Mamie was the script supervisor for the “Rust” production,” Allred wrote. “She stood very close to Halina Hutchins and director Joel Souza when both Halina and Joel were shot.”

The lawyer said he and his associates “have reason to believe” Mitchell was the first to call 911 and added that Hutchins was “a friend and close associate” of Mitchell.
“She is devastated by the loss of her friend who was an extraordinary woman,” Allred wrote. “Mamie recently attended a vigil for Halina and her heart goes out to Halina’s husband and son, whom she has spoken to.”
The lawyer then explained that his firm would conduct its own investigation.

“We are conducting our own investigation into what happened as there are many unanswered questions,” he said. “Mamie has been interviewed by the Sheriff’s Department. She has information and evidence that she believes will be helpful in this investigation.”
Allred continued: “She will continue to answer any additional questions law enforcement may have and to provide them with evidence that she believes is relevant to their investigation.”
The attorney concluded by explaining that Mitchell had been “painfully” and outside law enforcement before asking “anyone on the crew” with the relevant information to contact the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department as well as himself. Will not interview anyone.
