In an interview with Australia in 2009 Ten News, she spoke briefly about her second album, which she was working on at the time. “I am No Going to call my album again after my age, oh my god,” she said, sounding annoyed at herself.
In 2011, Adele sat down with USA Today to discuss her second album 21. “It feels like an ongoing theme to what I call my albums after my age at the time,” she said with a laugh. “People [after] My first album was like, ‘Oh, will your second album, your sophomore album, be called 21?’ I was like, ‘No, I’ Doing Imagine one, friends.’ but i ended up calling it 21. So unless there’s something truly poignant and life-defining that deserves the title after my age, I don’t know if I’ll move on. [doing it]”
